Representing Monroe County and Its Residents
County Law Department
The Monroe County Law Department serves as legal advisor to County government. In this capacity, the department represents the County Executive, the County Legislature and all other County departments, officers and employees in legal matters.
Public Defender’s Office
The Public Defender provides legal representation to individuals in criminal and family court proceedings who are unable to afford to hire an attorney.
Conflict Defender’s Office
Conflict Defenders provide legal representation to financially-eligible individuals in criminal, family, and appellate cases where in many instances, the Public Defender’s Office cannot represent them due to a conflict of interest.
